• Pain in forearm?

Posted by Fanny Prouté on November 27, 2021 at 1:54 pm

    Hi all,

I started pole a few months ago, took the essentials 1 course and started essentials 2. On the tuck spin as well as bracket hold exercises, I can hold myself up but if I do it a few times i start having a sharp pain in my supporting arm. And it lasts a few days to a week. It’s happened a few times now, I’ve tried to do conditioning exercises to streghten my forearms… but it’s not helping muhc so far. I feel like it is really halting my progress.

Has anyone else dealt with this? does anyone have tips on how to condition better for this specific problem?

    Thanks!
    Fanny

I’ve just registred and was looking around when I found your very familiar post. I had/have that problem too. In case you or somebody else still needs a tip, this is what I have learned:

The problem is not in your lower arm but in your upper arm. This pain is caused by missing pulling strength of the upper arm. Your lower arm has to “jump in” to get you on the pole which causes the pain because almost your full body weight lies on your arm. Try to work on your pulling strength before doing this grip again.
